Katherine May Mullis

Katherine May Marcum was born on September 8, 1922 in Sedalia, Mo., the daughter of Luther Marcum and Mary Elizabeth (Phillips) Marcum. She was raised in Hoisington, Kan. for a time and then her family moved to Chelsea, Okla.
Katherine married Oglesby James Mullis on January 25, 1938 in Hoisington. They became the parents of two boys and made their home in Hoisington and later in Sterling, Colo.
Katherine's husband died in 1965 and she lived in Sterling for another ten years. She then moved to back to Hoisington and then to Craig in 2000 to be near her son Johnnie. Katherine lived in Sunset Meadows until moving to Sandrock Ridge Care Center four years ago.
Katherine enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening and playing bingo.
She died on Sunday, December 23 at The Memorial Hospital in Craig following a brief illness. She was 90.
Katherine is survived by her sons Johnnie and his wife Judy Mullis, of Craig; and Willis and his wife Beth, of Astec, N.M.; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren; her sisters Gladys Harman and Louise Lehning, both of Hoisington; and her brother Charles Marcum. of Osawatomie, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oglesby J. Mullis; her sisters, Angeline and Ruth Ann; and her brothers Leroy, Bob, J.O., Herbert and Eugene.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held in Hoisington in the summer of 2013.
