Oak Creek Town Board to vote on $2.35 million budget for 2015
December 10, 2014
Steamboat Springs — After proposing it in mid-October and holding a public hearing in mid-November, the Oak Creek Town Board is set to vote to approve its $2,357,688 budget for 2015 at Thursday night’s meeting.
The $2.35 million budget is about a 10 percent decrease from what was budgeted for in 2014, a reflection of some upcoming capital projects that were planned and invested in starting in 2013.
New to the 2015 budget is a list of cash reserves in the town’s general, electric, sewer and trash funds.
The board also will be presented with and ultimately will vote on a water meter implementation plan, a system that town officials have been looking into for many years, Town Administrator Mary Alice Page-Allen said. Civil Design Consultants, Oak Creek’s town engineer, has been working with town officials toward a fully metered water system.
Oak Creek received $3,750 from the Associated Government of Northwest Colorado and has set aside another $3,750 for project completion in 2014, the action item’s communication form states.
The town will review its fee-in-lieu-of-parking policy Thursday, a matter that was brought to the forefront at a board meeting last month when Ant’s Organic, a proposed marijuana cultivation facility, sought to construct a two-story business on a vacant lot with minimal parking.

Oak Creek requires commercial businesses to provide one parking space per 500 square feet of building space, but Page-Allen said a fee-in-lieu-of-parking policy wasn’t taken into account during Ant’s Organic’s hearing, and the board will move to adopt a dollar figure at the meeting.
Also in Thursday’s consent agenda items, the town of Oak Creek will approve two separate contracts with Landmark Consultants Inc., for aerial mapping and Main Street water line existing conditions mapping, totalling $26,980 of work for the company paid by the town.
