Steamboat Springs — The Oak Creek Town Board is gearing up for its April 5 municipal election, with the mayor and three trustee positions up for vote.
Incumbent Nikki Knoebel is running unopposed for mayor, a two-year position, while four candidates are running for three open, four-year trustee positions. Incumbents Wendy Gustafson, Bill Auer and Kelly McElfish are looking to renew their positions, while challenger Daniel Gosnell hopes to unseat one of the three.
Voting will take place at town hall in Oak Creek on April 5, with absentee ballots available from town administrator Mary Alice Page-Allen.
Thursday in Oak Creek, the town board held its regular meeting, highlighted by passage of a resolution to take part in Agriculture Week from March 18 to 25. The event is being organized by the Community Agriculture Alliance, and March 23 will be recognized as Agriculture Day in Oak Creek.
"It's just acknowledging that ag is important in our local communities," Page-Allen said.
Also Thursday, the board approved a retail marijuana license for manufacturing operations to Oak Creek Enterprises LLC, operated by Brian Rogers at 240 Arthur Avenue. The license was approved on a conditional basis, as the operation still has additional permit work to complete before the license is authorized in full.
