Awareness through Movement classes offered
The Center for Movement Arts is offering Awareness through Movement classes designed for neck and upper back relief. The classes are at noon Wednesdays. The cost is $10 for drop-ins and $8 for card holders. Call 870-9977.
VNA giving WAIT Training to teach about life choices
The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association is hosting a two-day certification workshop, called WAIT Training, that will help teachers teach students about healthy life choices including abstinence from drugs, alcohol, sex and other high-risk behaviors. The workshop is aimed at teachers, coaches, school counselors, nurses and others who work with youths. The training is from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Olympian Hall, 845 Howelsen Parkway in Steamboat Springs. Visit http://www.waittraining.com to register online or call (720) 488-8888. Teens needed to be a part of Teen Style in newspaper
The Steamboat Pilot & Today is looking for teenage photographers, artists and writers for the 2005-06 staff of Teen Style. Teen Style runs in the Sunday newspaper every third week of the month. Staff members also will be in charge of organizing the third annual Teen Battle of the Bands held in May. Advocates seeking people to help domestic abuse
Advocates Against Battering and Abuse is looking for community volunteers interested in helping victims of domestic violence. Advocates will host a 25-hour training this fall that includes two Saturday and five weeknight sessions. The first two sessions will be Oct. 17 and Oct. 22. Call Allison at 879-2034.
