alcohol without permit

As the holidays approach, city of Steamboat Springs officials want to remind businesses that it is illegal to serve alcohol to the public without a permit during special parties or events.

City Clerk Julie Jordan said businesses that do not have liquor licenses are not allowed to serve any alcohol to the public. Businesses can serve alcohol without a permit at private events or parties.

“Although serving wine or spirits during a holiday sale or promotional event provides festive ambience, without a license or nonprofit permit, it is against the law,” she said.

Serving alcohol at a public, catered event also is illegal because there is no such thing as a “catering license” in Colorado, Jordan said.
