More voters return ballots

— Routt County election officials received and certified 213 completed ballots Wednesday, bringing the total number of Routt County residents who have voted in this year’s election to 2,322. The number of city of Steamboat Springs residents who have voted increased from 1,236 through Tuesday to 1,369 through Wednesday. More than 6,000 people voted in Routt County’s 2007 election, including about 3,500 city residents.

The average age of voters so far is 55. Less than 5 percent of ballots returned so far came from voters under age 30, and only about 20 percent are from voters younger than 45 years old. Completed ballots must be received by county election officials by 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The 2009 election is the first to be conducted with mail ballots only in Routt County. If you haven’t received a ballot and think you should have – or have any other questions – visit the Routt County Elections Office in the Routt County Courthouse or call 970-870-5558.
