Factory tour set aside May 4 for cyclists, triathletes

Moots Cycles is the Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory of Steamboat Springs, Dan Hagney said.

People see the bike factory or know the building is there, but few ever go inside. The difference is that a golden ticket isn’t required for entrance because Moots holds free tours.

With the recent creation of a triathlon club in Steamboat, Moots has agreed to hold a special factory tour for interested cyclists and triathletes at 6:30 p.m. May 4.

“We do tours every day,” said Hagney, a Moots salesman. “But this triathlon club started up and wanted to do an in-house tour. We don’t do it a lot. This is something unique.”

Joy Rasmussen helped start the triathlon club and is excited for cyclists of all levels — not necessarily triathletes — to see the factory and talk to its employees.

“They go into detail about what makes Moots different, and it’s an opportunity to ask questions about purchasing a bike,” Rasmussen said. “They have so many incredible experts there who are total bike heads.”
