Map lets you track Steamboat Springs Transit buses in real time
December 12, 2014
Steamboat Springs — Wondering where the Blue Line is at this exact moment? There’s a map for that.
Steamboat Springs Transit buses can be tracked in real time on a new interactive city map.
The online map is part of a larger GPS tracking package that lets bus riders use computers and smartphones to better plan their trips on the city’s bus system.
On the map, users can click on any stop and see what time the buses are due to arrive.
The service provided from RouteMatch also allows bus riders to use an app called RouteShout to find the bus stops closest to them and see when buses are set to arrive.
“Just anecdotally, we know people are using it because the volume of phone calls we’re getting from people asking when the next bus is coming has gone down,” Steamboat Springs Transit Manager Jonathan Flint said.

Flint said he wanted to offer bus riders a disclaimer that some parts of the new GPS tracking service still are being ironed out.
He said the service has greatly improved since it was launched earlier this week.
Flint joked that he initially was concerned during the early testing of the map when he saw one of the buses strayed from its route and started going up the slopes of Mount Werner.
A simple refresh of the route assured Flint the bus was still in “condoland” and not barreling down any groomers.
