Steamboat Springs — One man was injured Wednesday afternoon when an Aces High trash truck rolled on U.S. Highway 40 in Steamboat II.
The truck was traveling westbound on U.S. 40 when the wreck occurred at about 2:15 p.m. The vehicle came to a rest on its wheels with the trash container partially on top of the cab, its load spilled on the shoulder north of U.S. 40.
Rescue crews from Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue were unable to extricate the driver from the mangled truck until the trash container was partially lifted by a tow truck, and had to cut him out of the cab. The unidentified man was transported to Yampa Valley Medical Center in unknown condition with obvious head injuries.
Traffic was restricted to one lane through Steamboat II in the wake of the crash.
No other vehicles were involved, Colorado State Patrol Trooper David Kerker said at the scene this afternoon. CSP is investigating how the accident occurred.
