— At least two local soccer teams will be battling for titles today as the Steamboat Mountain Soccer tournament enters the final day. The tournament, which opened Thursday evening, will host its championship round Sunday at fields around town.

Steamboat’s U14 boys team advanced out of its pool after winning a semifinal game on Saturday.

Steamboat’s U-12 Navy girls team will also take the field at Heritage Park Sunday at noon when it faces NTX Reign from Texas. Both of those teams were undefeated in pool play and it marks the first time the U12 girls have advanced to a tournament championship.

Steamboat’s U-19 girls team also advanced to the finals, playing at noon Sunday.

The U19 boys still were in the running and waiting for early evening games to conclude before learning their fate. If things fall in the Steamboat team’s favor, they will be on Dudley Field at 10 a.m. Sunday.

This is the 30th year of the Steamboat Mountain Soccer tournament in Steamboat Springs. Each year the event draws hundreds of teams from around the state, and the region to the Colorado mountains for three days of soccer. The teams in Sunday’s championships finished at the top of their pool play divisions.
