Local choir group calls for poetry submissions for Spring Concert

The Yampa Valley Singers is calling for local poetry submissions for its 2018 Spring Concert. The theme is "The Journey Home." Though not focusing on the afterlife, "The Journey Home" encompasses themes such as feeling lost, homesick, broken relationships, restored relationships, transitions in life that lead one "back home," either literally or figuratively, the essence of being home, family and more.
Submission implies that YVS has rights to verbal readings at two concerts April 13 and 14, but does not impart permission to print submissions. Selected poets will be notified by email.
Email submissions to christelhouston@gmail.com.

Anthony Bourdain food waste documentary to screen at library

Bud Werner Memorial Library and the Yampa Valley Sustainability Council present a free screening of "Wasted!," a new documentary film that aims to change the way people buy, cook, recycle and eat food, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8 in Library Hall. Through the eyes of chefs Anthony Bourdain, Dan Barber, Massimo Bottura and Danny Bowien, viewers will see how the world's most influential chefs make the most of every kind of food, transforming what most people consider scraps into incredible dishes that create a more secure food system.
