Jon Kowalsky: The Bear thanks you
February 11, 2018
We here at The Bear wanted to let everyone in our community know just how thankful we are to be surrounded by such incredible individuals and organizations.
In the process of this race we made many new friends and were supported 100 percent from many different entities, both large — the U.S. Forest Service in both Colorado and Wyoming — and small —the North Routt Fire District. The Colorado State Patrol and Routt County Sheriff's Office happily supported this idea of ours as did Routt County Road and Bridge.
The Steamboat Lake Snow Club was incredible to work with as was the Hahn's Peak Roadhouse and Columbine Cabins. Talk about great people in a beautiful setting. If you live here in Steamboat, it's worth an overnight stay at either property.
We have many great local sponsors and are thankful for all of them but a few went above and beyond, and they deserve a highlighted nod — Glas Defryn Ranch, Big Agnes, Honeystinger, Moots, WorkshopL, The Steamboat Group and of course our amazing volunteers who truly embody the belief The Bear lives by — adventure burns brightest on the map’s edge; we'll be out there looking for it and hope to see you doing the same.
The Bear would not exist without our volunteers’ and racers’ adventurous spirit. Keep it up.
The Bear needs a nap, but when he wakes up this summer, he'll be a little more unruly with longer miles and more elevation for you to burn through. Keep September/October on your calendar. The Angry Bear wakes in the fall.
