Jason Andre: This queen has seen her last days

After reading about the Yampa River Queen and the people who are trying to save it, I just feel it’s my obligation to send something to you at this paper. I believe that the park should get torn down and rebuilt.

The people who are trying to save this River Queen must not have children, they must not have been to this park recently, they must not care about the potential for lead poisoning, they must enjoy pulling splinters out of their children’s hands, they must not care about the smell that comes from people using this as an outhouse.

I’m a father of five, and I’ve been to that park once, and only once. Maybe it’s sad to say, but this queen has seen her last days.

I understand it’s an iconic symbol of Steamboat Springs, but if it’s supposed to be a place for families to enjoy Steamboat Springs, this is not the place for it. Tear it down, build another boat or completely new playground but don’t let this one stand.
