A CenturyLink outage began around 1:30 p.m. Thursday and is affecting areas of south Routt County, including Oak Creek, Stagecoach and Phippsburg.

A 3:13 p.m. CodeRed emergency alert from Routt County said that according to CenturyLink, the outage was caused by a fiber cable cut on Colorado Highway 131 about four miles north of Oak Creek.

Oak Creek Town Administrator Mary Alice Page-Allen said the outage is unrelated to construction work taking place on Oak Creek’s Main Street.

The Oak Creek Fire Department posted on Facebook that 911 service in the area is down for landlines but appears to be functioning for cell service. The alert from Routt County confirmed that cell service is working in the South Routt area.
