Steamboat Springs — State AG to speak about youth violence at Sheraton today
Colorado Attorney General Ken Salazar will highlight the 30th annual training conference for the Colorado District Attorney’s Council today.
Salazar’s keynote address, which begins at 1:30 p.m. at the Sheraton, will focus on youth violence and the Colorado Safe School Initiative.
Delbert Elliot, of the Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence at the University of Colorado at Boulder, will join Salazar in sharing the results of their visits to 63 counties. Last year, Salazar and Elliot held forums throughout the state to investigate safe schools and safe communities.
Elliot, nationally recognized for his work on juvenile justice issues, and Salazar will also discuss the current and future progress of youth violence and drug prevention programs. Seminars offered throughout the conference will provide district attorneys in the state with the tools to improve their ability to more effectively present, argue and investigate a case.
The conference, which began Saturday with a golf tournament, concludes Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. with an overview of 2000-2001 U.S. Supreme Court decisions.
