Howelsen Hill Nordic trails to be closed for race

— The Howelsen Hill Nordic Center is hosting the 2016 National Collegiate Skiing Championships, and over 125 athletes will be using the Nordic trails for official training and racing Monday, March 7 to Saturday, March 12.

As a result, several of the Nordic trails will be closed to users to ensure skier safety and to protect trail conditions.

Rodeo Loop, Haakan Spar and Bluff Loop trails will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 8 and 9, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 10, from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 11 and from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 12.

Hobo Park and the ballfields will remain open; however, there will be no access to higher elevation trails from the front side of Howelsen Hill, and Long John will be closed until approximately noon on Saturday, March 12.

In addition, there will be an Alpine slalom race on the night of Friday, March 11, which will close The Face from approximately 6 to 10 p.m.
