Head of Boulder Montessori school takes Steamboat job

The board of directors of Mountain Village Montessori School in Steamboat Springs has hired current head of school at the Jarrow Montessori School in Boulder, Michael Girodo, to replace Michael Hayes, who announced in mid May he would be leaving to become the executive director of Compass Community Charter Schools in the Roaring Fork Valley.

Hayes led Mountain Village Montessori to a successful first year, and Girodo's background suggests he's prepared to help it take successive steps.

A native of Colorado, Girodo was a teacher at Jarrow Montessori before becoming head of school, according to a news release. During his career, he has accumulated more than 30 years of experience in a variety of educational settings. including faculty member, teacher, trainer and administrative director with the Naropa University Department of Education.
