Hayden girls basketball falls in Wyoming

Joel Reichenberger

— The Hayden High School girls basketball team couldn’t maintain the momentum it picked up with the season’s first win Friday, falling Saturday at Little Snake River, 68-26.

“We really struggled,” coach Michelle Wilkie said. “We played a little more nervous than we’ve played this year.”

Millie Delaney led the squad with six points and helped provide a spark in the second quarter. She was among the team’s highlights, Wilkie said. Another came early when the Tigers found a way to crack right through the Rattlers’ full-court press and eventually force the team to pull the defense off and fall back into a half-court set.

Still, Hayden struggled to take advantage of those breaks, falling to 1-5 on the season.

The Tigers wrap up their 2012 schedule Friday at home against Meeker.

“We really want to close out 2012 on a high note,” Wilkie said.
