Hayden girls basketball extends season, Rams prepare for West Grand

The Hayden girls basketball team extended the season by at least one more game Tuesday by defeating Plateau Valley in Collbran in a thrilling 40-39 contest.

The girls will face top seeded Meeker on Wednesday in Meeker, but the game time was not available at press time. The Tigers, the No. 9 seeded team in the district tournament, finished the season with a 3-8 record in league play and are 6-14 for the season. They will need another big upset Wednesday against Meeker who finished the season in a three-way tie for the league title with a 10-1 record in league play and a 15-4 overall record.

The season came to an end for the Hayden boys basketball team Tuesday. Plateau Valley defeated the Tigers on Tuesday in Collbran 65-32 in the play-in game. The Soroco boys season came to an end Monday with a 60-48 loss to Vail Mountain in the other play-in game.

The district tournament will continue Wednesday with the No. 2 seeded Soroco girls taking on West Grand at 6 p.m. West Grand defeated Caprock Academy on Tuesday 57-19 to earn a shot at the Rams. Hayden girls will travel to Meeker.
