Hayden football takes decisive win over Rangely
October 7, 2016
The Hayden High School football team was definitely on a roll Friday, taking a convincing 34-14 road win against Rangely.
“The kids did a great job executing,” Tigers head football coach Ryan Wilkie said. “I was really proud of our effort tonight.”
Though Wilkie did not have game stats at press time Friday, he said solid execution early on carried the Tigers into halftime with a 14-0 lead, a lead they expanded to the final buzzer.
Wilkie said the Panthers enjoyed a brief rally in early in the third quarter, making the score 14-8 after a long drive and a successful two-point conversion, but the Tigers answered just as quickly, scoring themselves on the ensuing possession.
“They got it back and ended strong,” Wilkie said. “The halftime adjustments really worked out for us.”
Wilkie was complimentary of his entire team, but particularly noted the efforts of Daylon Frentress who completed a big pass in the third quarter to extend a drive.
