Updated: Gondola, lifts now open after windy morning at Steamboat Ski Area

The gondola and all previously closed lifts with the exception of Rough Rider are now open, according to a 12:15 p.m. update from the Steamboat Ski Area.

10:30 a.m.

The Gondola, Storm Peak and Morningside lifts at Steamboat Ski Area are on a wind-hold Monday morning, according to updates on the ski area’s social media accounts and website.

Ski area officials wrote on Twitter at 9:15 a.m. that they are preparing to open the Gondola as soon as weather allows.

Sunshine and Rough Rider lifts were also placed on a wind hold as of a 10:15 a.m. update.

The Steamboat Springs area is under a winter weather advisory through 8 a.m. Tuesday morning with moderate to heavy snow and gusty winds forecast.

Gusts were expected to reach up to 45 miles per hour, according to the advisory.
