Steamboat Springs — The Sailors golf team set the tone this week that it hopes to carry through the rest of the season.
Steamboat Springs finished two-for-two in home tournaments, winning Tuesday at Catamount and then repeating again Wednesday at Haymaker. Both tournaments drew more than a dozen golf teams.
“It was a really good week for us as a team,” Steamboat junior Cody Sherrill said.
“I think a few of us could have played better as individuals, but we played well enough to win,” he said.
The Sailors wrapped up the home sweep Wednesday on the green grass of the Haymaker golf course with a score of 233. That was one better than Aspen, which finished second at 234. Montrose and Rifle tied for third with scores of 240.
Sherrill finished in the No. 3 spot for the Sailors at Haymaker with a round of 79.
