Gas prices around Steamboat drop for three consecutive months
November 8, 2015
Steamboat Springs — The price of a gallon of fuel in Steamboat Springs has dropped consistently every week since early August, leading to what could be the lowest November prices in more than 10 years.
The average cost of a gallon of gas at ten Steamboat Springs stations Sunday morning was $2.38, compared with $2.89 in early August, a difference of 51 cents, meaning several dollars in savings for filling up a gas tank.
Nationwide, the average price of gas Wednesday was $2.20, the lowest Nov. 4 average gas price since 2004, according to AAA's monthly gas report.
Drivers that day could find at least one station selling gas for less than $2 per gallon in 41 states, with eight states boasting an average price less than $2.
The statewide average for Colorado on Sunday was $2.10, decreased from $2.79 in early August. Prices for diesel have also dropped across the state from $2.64 in early August to $2.35 on Sunday, and across the nation from $2.64 to $2.48.
"The fuel savings continue to add up with pump prices in many areas below $2 per gallon," said Avery Ash, AAA spokesperson. "It looks increasingly likely that drivers will find the cheapest gas prices for the upcoming holidays in at least seven years."
