Faye Meeks

1925-2001

Faye Meeks died Aug. 30, 2001. She was 75.

She was born Nov. 4, 1925, in Arkadelphia, Ark., to Andrew Claeborn and Susie Annabelle (Nunn) Jones. She was raised in Arkansas, later moving to California where she met her husband to be, Alfred James Meeks. They were married May 23, 1951, in Parris Island, N.C. Faye and her husband lived in many places due to his being in the military. Following his retirement, they lived in Rifle before moving to Hayden in 1977. Faye was a member of the Eastern Star, the Fleet Reserve Association Ladies Auxiliary and attended the Hayden Congregational Church. She was also a member of TOPS for many years. Faye was very proud of having received her GED in 1930. She enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing and being with her grandkids. She was always willing to help anyone in need. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

She is survive by four daughters, Susan Lynn Mose and husband Larry of Mexia, Texas, Cynthia Ann Meeks of Hayden, Deborah Diana Meeks of Hayden and Melinda Leigh Durkop and husband Henry of Craig; four grandchildren, Alyce Marie Heaster and husband Eric, James and Randall Durkop and a foster grandson; three sisters, Louise Crowder of Wilmington, Calif., Mabel Ball of Girden, Ark. and Irene Milloway of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, Richard Clabourn of Valdosta, Ga.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Sue Horton, brothers, Andrew, Amos and Arthur Jones and granddaughter, Adrian Kaye Durkop.

A funeral service was at 11 a.m. Sept. 5, 2001, at the Hayden Cemetery.
