Class Notes for Feb. 17

“Universal Playground” meeting

The “Let’s all Play” committee, which is raising funds for new, universal playgrounds at Steamboat elementary schools, hosts a community input meeting from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Soda Creek Elementary School gym. Learn more about potential barrier-free playgrounds to be built at Soda Creek and Strawberry Park elementary schools. Time for questions and input will be provided. The committee also will hold a meeting from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Centennial Hall. Call Julie at 819-1548.

Upcoming events

Steamboat Springs High School parent/teacher conferences and registration for 2008-09 school year are from 4 to 8 p.m. March 4 and 6. Call the high school at 879-1562 to make an appointment, beginning Friday.

Steamboat Springs Middle School’s “Principal’s Coffee” event is from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.



Friday is “Hippie Day” at Soda Creek Elementary School.

Mid-Winter Break is Feb. 25 to 29. School resumes Monday, March 3.



All-State Band

Steamboat Springs High School students Whitney Lewis (clarinet), Mike Makens (trumpet) and Alyssa Walter (clarinet – alternate) were selected to the 2008 All-State Band.

Alumni Notes

Ashley Lynn Meadows of Oak Creek, a junior at Gonzaga University, made the university’s President’s List for the fall 2007 semester.

Alison Hong of Steamboat Springs made the Dean’s List for the fall 2007 semester at Trinity University in San Antonio.

Kimberly Walschmidet of Steamboat Springs graduated from Adams State College in December 2007 with a master’s degree in education.

Karen Reynolds of Steamboat Springs graduated from Adams State College in December 2007 with a master’s degree in education.

Jaclyn Kuusinen of Steamboat Springs graduated cum laude from Fort Lewis College in December 2007 with bachelor’s degrees in sociology and human services.
