Chamber holds annual board elections

Tom Ross

— The Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association installed a slate of four officers Thursday and welcomed three new members to its 19-member board of directors.

Bill Stuart of Market on the Mountain succeeds George Noyer as president. Noyer, who owns Boardriders Club, Chez Nous and Gondola General, will continue to serve as past president.

Ulrich Salzgeber of Alpine Taxi is the heir apparent to the presidency he’ll serve as first vice president this year. John Centner of Steamboat Motors is the chamber treasurer.

Chamber board members serve three years, with appointments staggered for renewal in groups of six.

Chamber Executive Vice President Sandy Evans Hall said a nominating committee made up of board members and two past presidents provided her with a list of prospective candidates. She called the people on the list to confirm their interest. Chamber members were invited to attend Thursday’s board meeting to nominate other candidates not on the board’s list, but none exercised that option, Evans Hall said.

Newly appointed to the board is Mike Lomas of the Alpiner Lodge, replacing Chris Stillwell of the Nites Rest as the downtown lodging representative.

Jeff Little has been appointed to the board to represent the restaurant industry. He replaces Chris Corna of Slopeside Grill. In the same category, Fritz Aurin of Steamboat Smokehouse replaces Karen Riggio of Riggio’s Fine Italian Restaurant.

Other board members were retained for a new three-year term. They include Paul Clavadetscher of Community First National Bank, Stuart, and Bob Milne of Steamboat Resorts.

At large members of the chamber board include Nancy Kramer of the Steamboat Arts Council, Ron Spangler of Twentymile Coal/RAG, Tom Hopp, Wells Fargo Bank, and Jim Simon, Vectra Bank. Donna Kerr of Tredway, Hennion and Kerr represents the professional community and Chris Diamond represents the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp. David Baldinger Jr. represents real estate. Other representatives of the lodging industry include Chuck Porter of the Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center and Steve Dawes of Dawes & Associates. Kathy Stokes of Postnet represents service businesses and past president Ed MacArthur represents the construction industry.
