Calling all artists

Steamboat Springs — The Art in the Park festival in Steamboat Springs attracts nearly 10,000 visitors and 160 artist vendors annually.
This Sunday is the last day for artist vendors to apply for a spot in the festival.
"Artists come from all over the country," said Beth Liggitt, event coordinator for this year's Art in the Park. "It's the biggest event of its kind here. It's the experience, the location and the historical nature that make it such a fun event for everyone to attend."
This year’s festival, which also serves as the Steamboat Springs Art Council’s largest fundraiser, will be held July 9 and 10 in West Lincoln Park. The event takes place during Hot Air Balloon Rodeo Weekend and it will feature live entertainment, an interactive children's art area, food vendors, art and a live art installation, which is new this year.
Art in the Park is a juried event, so every vendor must apply for booth space. According to Liggitt, 157 artists have already submitted applications.
"What we look for is work that show the artist's original concept, design and execution and to ensure that everything is handmade," Liggitt said. "We always look for a really nice variety of work that has a mix of mediums and styles within each medium."
