Steve Downs named local Realtor of the Year
Steamboat Springs — Steve Downs was honored as Realtor of the Year at the Steamboat Springs Board of Realtors banquet Sept.19, according to a news release.
A business graduate of the University of Kentucky, Downs arrived in the Yampa Valley in the fall of 1972. He has been a broker at Steamboat Village Brokers since it opened in 1983 and has sold real estate in Steamboat for more than 32 years, the release stated. He has earned the Graduate Realtor Institute and Certified Residential Specialist designations, the release stated.
Downs was honored for his contributions to the real estate community, including serving as treasurer and director of the board, and he is currently on the MLS Committee, the release stated.

Ski resort switching to Coca-Cola products
Intrawest, the parent company of Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp., announced last week that it has entered a partnership with Coca-Cola.
Under the agreement, Coca-Cola North America and its bottle partners in the United States and Canada will continue to be the official beverage providers at 10 of Intrawest’s resorts in North America, a news release stated.

Coca-Cola’s beverages will be served exclusively throughout Intrawest’s resorts, including the Steamboat Ski Area.
“Copper and Winter Park were sort of Coke shops before, and Steamboat was with another vendor,” Intrawest spokesman Ian Galbraith said. “They’re going to be switching over to Coca-Cola products.”
The change will be implemented for the 2008-09 ski season. The companies also are working on programs promoting wellness and environmental sustainability, Galbraith said.
Downtown Steamboat Furniture store closes
Holly Day has closed her furniture store, Triple 555 Ranch Design on Ninth Street in Steamboat Springs. Day said she was shutting the shop to focus on online business.
