Safeway sets grand opening

The Steamboat Springs Safeway store plans to celebrate a grand opening of its newly remodeled store on Dec. 5.

The $5 million construction project, which began last April, added more than 8,000 square feet to the building.

Improvements include doubling the size of the store’s delicatessen and expanding the variety of freshly baked goods the store can offer. The pharmacy and floral departments also have expanded capabilities.

Christmas tree permits for sale

Christmas tree permits are for sale at the Forest Service offices in Yampa and Steamboat Springs.

The permits are $10 with a maximum of five permits per person. With the purchase of a permit, guidelines will be received for cutting Christmas trees.

CDOT to hold public meeting

The Colorado Department of Transportation, as part of its on-going statewide transportation planning process, is asking the public to help identify the most critical transportation needs around the state and propose solutions. Public meetings held through January will be used by the Transportation Commission to develop the 2003 Strategic Investment Plan.

Project recommendations should address transportation problems in the Northwest Transportation Planning Region. A public meeting is from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday in Centennial Hall.
