Este Wilkinson named Teen of the Month for February
The Steamboat Springs Teen Council has selected Este Wilkinson as Teen of the Month for February. The Steamboat Springs High School senior was chosen for demonstrating that teens are valuable community assets, acting as a leader and/or a positive role model amongst his/her peers and for being committed to community service.
Wilkinson is an active member of the volleyball and tennis teams and also participates in the annual Dance Showcase. She also is a strong student with a 4.0 grade point average and she's an active member of the SSHS Link Crew and Student Council.
After graduation, Wilkinson plans to attend a small liberal arts school to study psychology and pre-law.
Wilkinson said her primary role model is her mom.
"My mom, a hard-working and motivated women, has taught me to depend on myself for emotional and physical support," Wilkinson said.
The Steamboat Springs Teen Council works to increase positive leadership development, involve teens in the community at large and provide substance free and alternative activities for youth. The program is sponsored by the city of Steamboat Springs, Grand Futures Prevention Coalition and the Boys & Girls Club and is funded through a grant from Routt County United Way and Yampa Valley Community Foundation.
