Nancy Stahoviak awaits second knee surgery
Routt County Commissioner Nancy Stahoviak is at her Oak Creek home awaiting the second of four surgeries on her knees.
The surgery to install a temporary knee replacement with antibiotics in her left knee is scheduled for March 24 in Denver. Stahoviak had the same surgery on her right knee in February.
After this surgery, Stahoviak will recover at the Doak Walker Care Center. She also will have to wear braces on both knees so they won’t bend; mobility will be difficult.
In late April, she will have a permanent replacement put in her right knee.
Stahoviak was flown to a Denver hospital because of life-threatening kidney failure and infections in mid-December.

County services to be affected by rewiring
Services at the offices of the Routt County assessor, appraiser, clerk and recorder, treasurer, personnel and GIS departments will be affected by rewiring work from March 22 through April 16.
Rewiring at the courthouse, the courthouse annex and the Routt County Sheriff’s Office will provide faster and more reliable data communications among county computer systems, said Terry Barber, Routt County director of information services.
While the improvements are being made, there likely will be service outages in some departments. Some offices may be closed or at alternative locations, and hallways will be more narrow because of moved furniture, Barber said.
The new data cabling will allow county computers to communicate 10 times faster and more reliably than they can currently, he said. It also will pave the way for the county to increase data communication rates to more than 100 times the current rate.
The cost of the project is about $20,000, Barber said.
