Newspaper looking for Editorial Board members

The Steamboat Pilot & Today is accepting letters of interest from those who wish to serve as community representatives on the newspaper’s Editorial Board from Jan. 1 through April 30.
The Editorial Board includes two community representatives and five members of the newspaper staff. Newspaper staff members on the board include Publisher Bryna Larsen, editor Scott Stanford, city editor Brent Boyer and reporter Tom Ross. The Editorial Board formulates the Our View opinions expressed on the ViewPoints page of the newspaper.
Readers interested in serving on the Editorial Board should send a letter of 500 words or less expressing their interest in the board to Stanford at email@example.com or at P.O. Box 774827, Steamboat Springs, CO 80477. Letters also may be dropped off at the Pilot & Today office at 1901 Curve Plaza. Call Stanford at 871-4221 with questions.

for summer calendar
The Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association is requesting information about local events for its summer 2007 calendar. The calendar includes events from May through October 2007. The information will be available on both Chamber Web sites, the summer Visitor’s Guide, in publications providing visitor information about Steamboat Springs, in various community maps, in news media publications, in press releases and in mailings throughout the summer. Event submission deadline is Feb. 12.

Carnival street events
registration open Feb. 1
Registration for the 94th annual Winter Carnival street events opens Feb. 1 at the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association visitors center at 1255 S. Lincoln Ave. The visitors center is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The Winter Carnival street events will take place Feb. 10 and 11. Fairgrounds open to
public horseback riding
The Routt County Fair-
grounds multi-purpose building is open to the public for horseback riding. The cost is $5 an hour. Open riding sessions last through the winter with a varied schedule. Horses are not provided. The schedule is posted at http://www.routtcountyfair.org, or call 276-3068 for more information.
