Fund-raiser to increase awareness of autism

The Yampa Valley Autism Program is sponsoring a “Puzzles” fund-raiser through the end of April, as it is National Autism Awareness Month. With the purchase of each puzzle piece comes a chance to win great prizes at a Friday drawing.

Proceeds benefit the Yampa Valley Autism Program, which was formed to raise funds for family support services, vital training to qualified personnel, updated educational programs and public awareness of the autism epidemic.

The puzzle piece has become a national symbol for autism because of the complicated variety of symptoms each individual experiences, said president Janna Marxuach-Steur. Each person is a “puzzle” with a beautiful picture inside.
