Boy who died at Hanging Lake identified, cause of death blunt force injury

Investigators are still working to determine how Noah Ragon was fatally injured

Hanging Lake is a popular summer destination east of Glenwood Springs.

The Garfield County Coroner's Office announced Wednesday that 8-year-old Noah Ragon of Highlands Ranch died Monday in a hiking accident at Hanging Lake.

The boy, who was with his family, had reached the area of Sprouting Rock near the waterfall and was in eyesight of his mother when the accident happened, said Coroner Robert Glassmire.

The exact details of how Noah was fatally injured are still under investigation, Glassmire said. Investigators are working to determine if the boy slipped, was struck by a falling rock or if something else happened.
