Board hears petition

Annexation proceedings can move to next stage

Nick Foster

The Hayden Town Board did not discuss developers’ request to annex 676 acres into the town as part of a planned 900-acre subdivision. Instead, the board simply passed a resolution stating the developers can move on to the next stage of the annexation proceedings.

A formal public hearing on West Routt Properties’ annexation request was scheduled for April 15.

West Routt Properties is proposing the annexation for a 900-acre subdivision and 18-hole golf course called The Villages at Hayden. The project formerly was called Sunburst Ranch, but a complete change in the subdivision’s layout and development group spurred a name change.

Before the April public hearing, the Hayden Planning Commission will review and discuss the annexation petition March 11 or April 8 to make a recommendation to the Town Board about how to proceed.

Looking at another annexation, which has been in the planning stages since May, the Town Board approved a 3.61-acre annexation at Yampa Valley Regional Airport for a rental car maintenance facility with the condition that the petitioner, Aaron Wiltfong, provide details of the operations at the facility.
