Bill Whittemore: Bike routes good

Bill Whittemore

— I’m very happy to see that Steamboat now has official bicycle routes, on streets, where cars will share the road. The Bicycle Advisory Committee did a very good thing for all of the bicycle riders by doing this. I was very happy to be able to see a list of the downtown streets that have bicycle lanes.

I live between downtown and the mountain. No matter where I will be riding my bicycle, I have very safe places to ride. If I want to go up to the mountain, we have a safe sidewalk that is on Mount Werner Road all the way to the mountain. When I will be going downtown or past town, I always use the Core Trail. I’m ashamed that the Core Trail and the Mount Werner Road sidewalk were not shown in the list of bicycle routes that were in the Steamboat Today on July 23.
