Anne Daugherty: You can’t legislate morality

This is in response to the letter to the editor, “Thoughts, prayers’ are meaningless," on Feb. 16 in Steamboat Today.
In answer to your closing question, yes, Brodie, you missed something, the bottom line actually.
You can't legislate morality.
Here we are again indeed. I will now don my rubber head as I can easily predict the following.
I will undoubtedly receive a barrage of criticism from justifiably grief-stricken people who are desperate to seize and champion any remedy that could assuage their anguish, and a barrage of the same platitudes put forth by those who still think that morality can be legislated.
