4-H shooters shine, prepare for state

The 4-H shooting team held its local championships Sunday and selected the shooters who will be bound for state, competing in compound and traditional bow, shotgun, .22 rifle, air pistol and air rifle.

— The local 4-H shooting club wrapped up its local season Sunday and it’s on to state for a number of the local competitors.

The team will send six athletes in compound bow, Harrison Ashley, Rachelle Koly, Chase DelaMater and Taylor Powell in the junior division and Logan Bankard and Richard Hallenbeck in the senior division.

A whole heap of local shooters will compete in a trio of shotgun competitions. Tyler Anderson, Kollen Decker, Taylor Kirby, Macray Dillingham and DelaMater will compete in the junior division for trap, skeet and 5-stand. Meanwhile, Bankard, JP Ely, Hunter Mihaich, Grant Birkinbine and Richard Hallenbeck will compete in senior trap and senior 5 stand, while Marlin Rowan will sub in for Mihaich in the senior skeet competition.



Taylor Kirby, Jed Kirby and DelaMater will compete in a trio of juniors .22 rifle competitions, and they’ll be joined by Spencer Ashley in the air rifle and air pistol contests. On the senior side, Kendra Halder and Jonathan Lockhart will compete in .22 shooting. Halder also will compete in air rifle and air pistol.

Champions on Sunday included Harrison Ashley and Logan Bankard in compound bow; Delaney Moon and Jonathan Lockhart in traditional bow; Tyler Anderson and Bankard in shotgun; Taylor Kirby and Halder in .22 rifle; Jed Kirby and Halder in air rifle and Taylor Kirby and Halder in air pistol.
