2016 Free Summer Concert Series benefit to announce acts

The Chris Robinson Brotherhood was the first show of the 2015 season for the Steamboat Springs Free Summer Concert Series at the base of Howelsen Hill. The benefit on Friday at the Chief Theater will have live entertainment, an auction and the announcement for four of the five headlining acts for 2016.

— Organizers say the upcoming Steamboat Springs Free Summer Concert Series will be bigger and better this year.

"This has been the largest budget for the musical acts that we've ever had," said Scott Fox, Steamboat Free Summer Concert Series board member. "All five acts will be really, really strong this year."

Kicking off fundraising efforts for the 2016 season, the annual benefit event will be at 6 p.m. Friday at the Chief Theater. Butcherknife Brewery will offer a variety of beer, along with a Titos Martini Bar. The event will also offer live entertainment from the Brian Smith Band and the Bill Smith Band, featuring a Michael Jackson Tribute, and a variety of auction items.

In the midst of the entertainment and auction, four of the five acts will be announced.

"We are really excited about this year," Fox said. "We have really strong acts that are well-known and a bluegrass act that is legendary. There will be a little jam band and definitely a R&B soul band. We've got a really diverse lineup this year."

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at chieftheater.com or at the door.
