Oak Creek native named to Dean’s List
Ashley Lynn Meadows of Oak Creek was among 580 students named to the Gonzaga University Dean’s List for spring semester 2007. Students must earn a 3.5 to 3.69 grade-point average to be listed.
Lowell Whiteman names new development director
Lane Malone has been named the Lowell Whiteman School’s new director of development. Deb Smith resigned as director of development in June after five years of service to the school. Smith previously served as the school’s interim director of admissions.
Malone has a master’s in education, curriculum and instruction from Adams State College. She most recently worked for the Steamboat Springs School District, serving as grants writer for the three Routt County school districts.
Malone also is the past executive director of Parents in Routt County, director of Keystone Science School in Summit County, an alumna of El Pomar Foundation’s Nonprofit Executive Leadership Program and a graduate of Leadership Steamboat 2004-05.
Charity fundraiser golf tournament is July 17
All golfers are encouraged to sign up for the Rally For A Cure/Yampa Valley Breast Cancer Awareness Project golf tournament July 17 at the Sheraton Steamboat Golf Club. All proceeds benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the Yampa Valley Breast Cancer Awareness Project. There will be two shotgun starts at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. The format is 18-hole scramble. Registration forms are available at all area courses. Call 879-1391.
A few spots left for July 21 writers conference
Only a few openings remain for the 26th annual Steamboat Springs Writers Conference. The conference is from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. July 21 at the Depot Art Center.
