Mahogany Ridge Brewery & Grill: Restaurant Review
June 25, 2009
Good, fun food, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere – that is Mahogany Ridge Brewery & Grill. Whether grabbing light appetizers with friends, or a romantic dinner with your partner, you cannot go wrong here.
Yes, our initial service was a touch slow, however the priced-right happy hour and subsequent entrees more than compensated for it. Mahogany’s daily happy hour, I would argue, is one that is tough to beat: half-priced drinks and dollar tapas (appetizers). We chose the hummus, edamame, and cheese quesadilla. All were delicious, small servings, and just right for the dollar price tag.
As for the main course, we sampled the Halibut Fish & Chips ($16.95) and Filet Mignon ($28.95). The former had an excellent, homemade batter and was fried perfectly. The latter, however, was somewhat of a disappointment given the heftier price. It was not nearly as tender as filets I have had elsewhere, but given Mahogany’s other delicious food, it could have just been a fluke. What made the filet interesting, nonetheless, was the choice of two sauces, of fifteen, to accompany it.
I would recommend Mahogany Grill to anyone wanting an enjoyable meal, in a relaxing atmosphere. Definitely try one of the “Brewery Plates,” such as the fish and chips – enjoy a great meal at an economical price. I would also recommend that you arrive before 6:00 p.m., to take advantage of the dollar tapas.
Mahogany is located at 435 Lincoln Avenue and is open daily for dinner from 4:00 p.m. 10:00 p.m.. The bar is open late, often with live music. The daily happy hour is from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
