Inspired Life Network to have featured event at the Chief Theater Tuesday

Musician Todd Musselman will be featured on Inspired Life Network's "Where is There" at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

— When determining aspirations or setting life goals, some kind of image or sense of accomplishment comes to mind. But what does that look like?

Local musician and life coach Todd Musselman calls it the pursuit of getting to a place that doesn't really exist. He calls it, "there."

"People have the question of — am I good enough? — constantly rolling around in their head," Musselman said. "But the problem is that this particular question is unanswerable."

It's a concept many may find confusing. Much like the peculiar title of the event presented by Inspired Life Network — "Where is There?" Explained through song and speech, Musselman’s performance will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Chief Theater.

Inspired Life Network, created by Caroline Lalive Carmichael, Sarah Coleman and Hal Levin, is committed to inspiring people to connect with their minds, bodies and spirits to reach their full potential.

Lalive Carmichael, who serves as Alpine director for the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, said Musselman's impact on the staff at the Winter Sports Club caught her attention this fall.

"People speak so highly of him, and I think one of his strengths is that he is clear and concise with his messaging," she said. "I really appreciate that because so often, those inspirational messages can get complicated. His biggest thing was about being a person of your word."

Utilizing his blend of humor and stories, Musselman will feature seven original songs at the event — each offering its own story, delving into the details of the song's development.

"It's an incredible combination," Lalive Carmichael said. "Music touches people differently than words or speech would and to be able to tie those together will tap into two different parts of people's psyche and that's pretty powerful."

For about five years, Musselman has fostered a career as a life coach hosting leadership training opportunities and coaching individuals or teams. He also has been a musician for about 25 years and a familiar face around Steamboat Springs for the past 11.

"I was never meant to just play music or to just be a public speaker," he said. "This is a perfect combination of both and when I do this, I am extremely present. It grounds me into the moment."

Inspired Life Network presents a number of workshops or events throughout the year in the Steamboat Springs community. Each one is different from the one before it.

"Todd brings something new to the table," Coleman said. "So many life coach presentations are the same. But this takes it to a whole new level. I think it's catchy and something that will stick with the guests even after they leave."

Tickets for the event are $12 and can be purchased at the Shoe Chalet and Boutique, next door to the Chief Theater, or online at http://www.chieftheater.com.
