Best Pizza: Beau Jo’s Mountain Bistro
October 13, 2016
Although Uzbekistan-born Farhod Khibibullaev and Narghiza Mikhmanova have been Steamboat residents for 15 years, the couple just took ownership of the Steamboat branch of regional chain Beau Jo's in September 2015.
Despite the fact that they are new to the scene, their Best in the Boat victory in the Best Pizza category proves they are anything but amateurs.
"We didn't even think we were going to win this year, but it was awesome that all the hard work, late shifts, and early mornings paid off," says the first-time winners.
Narghiza says it's the dough — made fresh every four hours with locally farmed honey — that really sets Beau Jo's apart from the competition. Their signature honey-infused crust comes in whole-wheat and gluten-free varieties that are every bit as delicious as the mainstay white crust.
Specialty "Mountain Pies," like the fan-favorite Steamboat Pizza — pepperoni, hamburger, sausage, salami, ham, Beau Jo's sauce and mozzarella — are piled high on thick crust with ingredients sure to satisfy carnivorous cravings, but Beau Jo's has no shortage of vegetarian options, either.
The Veggie Pizza, made on a thin crust with black olives, green peppers, red onions, mushrooms, Roma tomatoes, Beau Jo's sauce and mozzarella, is guaranteed to impress, too. However, Beau Jo's offers a create your own option as well, with the freedom to pile your favorite ingredients atop honey crust and specialty sauce.

In addition to their decadent pies, Beau Jo's offers a buffet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day with five different kinds of pizza, a salad bar and homemade soup, all of which comes with a 15 percent discount for locals looking to chow down.
"We're not just the pizza place," Narghiza says.
Indeed, Beau Jo's has more than pizza, but it is the signature Colorado-style pies that keeps customers coming back for more.
