Steamboat Springs — Expect to hear the chirping of crickets and the crackling of a fire at Dave Moran’s Rocky Mountain Campfire Show on Tuesday night.
It’s just one guy sitting on a log with an instrument and a theatrical fire, Moran said.
“I’ll do quite a bit of poetry and a handful of tongue twisters and jokes – clean family stuff. It will give you a warm fuzzy feeling and remind you of why you are here and how important it is to respect Mother Nature.”
Moran is bringing his campfire show to the Steamboat Mountain Theatre every Tuesday night through February because he said he noticed a need for family entertainment in Steamboat Springs.
He will play a mix of Western standards and original songs about the Rocky Mountains and nature.

“They are about the bears, the river, the bees and the trees,” Moran said. “And I’ll throw in stories in between.”
The show will incorporate wilderness photography by Ken Lee as part of the backdrop.
“It’s so overwhelming when you see something like that, but it’s not like MTV with a million images,” Moran said. “It’s just a handful of images with the songs to give the imagination a boost.”
This is Moran’s first collaboration with another artist, but he has been entertaining people since he was a child.
“My first standing gig was playing at a pizza place at (age) 11,” he said. “Since then I’ve played at theme parks in Japan, on cruise ships, river boats, in casinos and at country fairs.”
Moran encourages his friends and locals to attend next week’s show.
“I’m trying to get locals to come on the 19th and heckle me,” he said. “Just don’t throw anything too hard. Tell them the vegetables have to be soft, and no beer bottles, please.”
