Tips Up

Excitement brewing

No matter where you go, people are asking if the U.S. Nordic combined team can win the team event on Tuesday. In a word, absolutely. Looking at the splits in the short hill event and seeing where the Americans were at the 5K point, there's no doubt they'll be in contention. The lineup should be interesting. My best guess — and I'm no expert — is it looks like this. Brett Camerota, who has been working hard on his 5K — will start things off, followed by Todd Lodwick, Johnny Spillane and Bill Demong. Demong had the team's fastest cross-country time in the small hill event. Of course this could all change after the jumping portion. But again, it's been the talk. I've had journalists from every part of the United States ask me about it. It should be interesting to see what the crowd is like on Tuesday. My guess is at least 5,000 fans.

__ I mentioned Vancouver was bristling Saturday with it being a weekend and a beautiful day. Of course it's hard to tell when you can't see.

Here's a couple of pictures from the chaos. And one of my favorite fan.
