What started as an early day, hasn't turned out too bad. At the airport this morning we saw Johnny Spillane's mother, Nancy, and his brother, Sam. Both were on our flight to Seattle. There they were meeting Jim Spillane and driving from Seattle to Whistler. Asked if she's slept a lot in the last week, Nancy just laughed. Also found out Johnny Spillane's Christmas present from his mom came from my hometown. Nancy was working to get the High Mountain Institute — an outdoors school just outside of Leadville — accredited. While in town she stopped at a local antique store and found some original Nordic skis from Norway.
