Unknown Heroes Hardly anyone looks death straight in the face everyday. However, each soldier experiences it again and again on a regular basis just to fight for our country, to fight for us. They count down the days and months until they get to go home, in the mean time giving it their all. Like the man in the photo, on his helmet it shows the months he has been in Vietnam, as well as the counted days he has left. His helmet is tattered and broken, as he feels he is tattered and broken too from the stress of the war. He puts on a brave face and does his best to protect our country. But, he is thinking about what he is going to do when he gets back, home, where I will find peace, love, and comfort, finally. Not many people know what soldiers go through and what they experience day in and day out; but the more I think about it, and try to put myself in their shoes, I realize the long lasting impact they have on the world, and how I have a deep respect for them. I can't imagine doing what they do, risking their life, and hoping that they will make it home. I hope that over time more people will realize that these men and women are heroes. By: Jayde Mattox

I really liked how she made it clear that the soldiers are unknown heroes and how they fight for our country and most get no acknowledgement for their risks they take, in order to keep us safe. JR
