As of 7 a.m., we had received 1,173 votes in response to the question, "Should John DeVincentis resign from the School Board." It is far and away the most votes we have received since we went to the new Web design.
Some of the other top questions (more than 700 votes) since we re-designed the Web site in August:
I remember an online question about closing the Steamboat Springs Airport in 2002 that topped 1,000 votes, but that one was fishing because we went from 200 votes to more than 1,000 overnight. Under our old system, you could simply clear your cache of cookies and vote again. That doesn't work anymore.
Otherwise, we've never topped 1,000 votes.
As I have said many times before and as it says on the poll, this is not a scientific survey. It simply reflects the views of those who choose to participate.
In fact, if you look at last fall's election Questions of the week, five matched the actual outcome and four were wrong, sometimes woefully so. Those that were wrong:
So the current question is running heavily one way. Still, as the above election results show, it's hard to draw any conclusions based on an online vote.
