I asked Gov. Bill Ritter today about Monday's arrest of at least two men with rifles, ammo and drugs. Initial reports said the men told law enforcement that they were planning to assassinate Obama on Thursday at Invesco Field, but after further examination law enforcement said the men posed no credible threat. Ritter, a former prosecutor, said he's worked on security planning since Denver first won the convention. "We could not have done more with security planning," Ritter said, before expressing hopes for a safe event Thursday and praising police. "That was great work on the part of our law enforcement," he said of the arrests. Ritter is scheduled to speak Thursday night. He told me he plans to focus on the West's transition to a more progressive-voting region, a topic that has been theme at events all around the convention so far. I caught Ritter before he participated in an energy roundtable discussion, and asked him how he was holding up in the non-stop swirl of convention events. "Fantastic," he said. "It's an adrenaline rush."
