Actually Nora, it is OK to cross the yellow line to pass, but only when safe to do so.

I do not know who Paul is, but I think Pete makes some valid points.
i read the article. what does the second line of the title say? where did i publish falsehoods? i simply stated what my experience has been for the last serveral years dealing with this and how previous actions have left me (and i am sure many others) feeling about this.
yay!!!! we get to hear about how awsome it will be for another year!!!! work could begin??? that sounds promising....just like the last two years.i understand that there is a defined process but this is the second summer in a row that we have heard all about the great things that are going to happen only to be told mid summer that we will have to wait until next year. why should i believe anything the resort says regarding their plans for updating the mountain bike trails? and i say updating because we are so far behind on this that it is comical. i'll believe the hype when i see some action...
Oh, tolerant steamboat! hey skifree (Glen?) maybe you should check your facts. The ride the rockies are their own entity and make their own decisions as far as route and towns they visit. Traffic problems on twenty mile? I am sure it was worse than rush hour in LA. Rude behavior? probably a reflection of how they were greeted. how many times did the cops have to be called for noise complaints or about jimmy's mom kicking jonny's mom's a** because someone stole a base? one thing i did not see was the massive amounts of trash and drink bottles strewn about all of our parks etc and blowing in the wind after an all day bbq that nobody wanted to clean up after. Helen i am SOOOOO sorry you were inconvenienced for an entire afternoon by a special event taking place this year. Sure there were definitely examples of bad bike etiquette and poor decisions regarding self preservation but i see this stuff being done EVERY DAY by locals and tourists alike. so many people whining about having to drive around bicycles. Is it really that hard to lift a foot off the accelerator for 10 seconds and pass when it is safe? Passing 1 bike or 5 it is the same simple procedure. I believe the traffic laws do allow me to occupy a SAFE lane of travel on PUBLIC ROADS and NO when i am traveling at 25+ mph i am not going to be 2 inches from the shoulder putting myself in danger. I have found, from personal experience, that most dangerous situations that occur between bicyclists and drivers stem from over aggressive driving and a simple lack of respect for fellow humans.
mr. Bisbee, if ski corp. actually got these projects going there would be something to get behind. Instead all we hear are grandios developement plans that continue to get shelved until an undetermined date. Actions speak louder than words and so far the actions or LACK OF ACTION from Ski Corp. is saying a lot.
don't they actually have to start work in order for it to push forward? same story as last year except they are already saying that they are going to do less than "planned". maybe they should start by mapping a trail on the land that they lease, therefore eliminating a lot of EXTRA red tape.how many years of environmental studies will this take? what about all of the previous studies? judging by the past two (or 12) years it should be another spring full of lip service with no action.
